Artistic residence Arsenal / Cité musicale / Metz
In a pioneering exchange between Western styles and the specific characteristics of Arabic music, composer Zad Moultaka (1967) opens endlessly new spaces for contemporary music across cultural and stylistic borders. This program presents three pieces drawing on Phoenician, Sumerian, Ugaritic and Pre-Islamic roots in the early Mediterranean, inspired by real or invented languages and recapturing great epic narratives, to the delight of all lovers of composite worlds. As a counterpoint, the oudist Qaïs Saadi proposes a journey through traditional Arab-Andalusian music.
